Elyse Duffy is a proud graduate student in Quinnipiac’s Interactive Media program. In addition to going to school part-time, she also works as a senior graphic designer for a consumer products marketing company. Elyse graduated in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Southern Connecticut State University and has been working in the design industry ever since.
Elyse’s dream of “getting paid to be creative” began when she was young. She was always drawing and coloring on any and every surface she could find, expressing herself through drawing. As she grew up, she continued to take plenty of art classes, perfecting her craft. In high school, she was introduced to graphic art done on a computer and started learning about this industry and its lucrative career path. After high school she learned how to use design software, pursued a graphic design degree, and has never looked back! She enjoys spending her days producing graphics, solving design challenges and working in product advertising.
With ten years of design experience under her belt, she recently felt the yearning to continue her education and learn additional design skills that would help her advance. She found Quinnipiac’s Interactive Media program to be a great fit, allowing her to learn new skills like designing for social media and UI/UX classes. With this master’s degree she will be able to reach new heights in her career, where she can apply for art director positions or UX design jobs.
When Elyse isn’t staring at a computer screen, she can usually be found outside, jogging, training for the next 5K road race. In the winter, she is probably skiing at one of her favorite mountains in Vermont. Being an avid outdoor enthusiast, Elyse chooses to spend most of her free time outdoors to make up for all the screen time she accumulates during the work week. Finding a work-life balance is important to her. Giving herself time for hobbies allows her to be more creative and feel recharged when returning to work.
She is hopeful that by the time she graduates with her masters, in spring 2026, she will have secured a higher position, where she can continue growing as a designer. With her newfound skills, Elyse is looking forward to the next few decades in the creative design industry!
